05 Apr Habibi, come to Dubai!
“Habibi, come to Dubai!”
ok, here we are. What now?! It’s been a CRAZY past few months for us. We sold all of our stuff, got rid of the car, turned in the keys to our home… And that’s it. We were finally ‘homeless’. We stayed at my in-laws place, at my moms place, at some friends places… We were literally nomads in our own country for a little while. But then the big moment came…
We booked our tickets to our first destination: DUBAI! And here we are. We just landed in Dubai a few days ago. And I’d love to say that I LOVE DUBAI and it’s so amazing here, but the truth is: We have literally not seen anything yet. We were so incredibly tired from the chaos that were the past few months that we really need to hit pause, take a break and SLEEP. Sleep for days. So that’s what we did. We booked a hotel close to the airport so we could roll out the plane into the bed, haha.
FIVE Jumeirah Village Hotel
After resting up for a few days we decided to book a hotel near Palm Jumeirah, FIVE Jumeirah Village Hotel! It’s an amazing 5-star hotel with beautiful rooms with a bathtub, amazing views over the city, a rooftop bar, multiple restaurants, a gym, spa, swimming pools and so much more. The experience has been absolutely nurturing to us. It has very fast wifi as well (important since we’re uploading lots of content) and 24h room service – I recommend the pizza pepperoni! But really, the best thing about this hotel is the view from our room. We’re on the 31st floor and the view is just breathtaking, check it out:
Amazing right?! We think so… It looks crazy at night as well. Check out my latest episode of the Burdened & Blessed Podcast that I recorded at night from that balcony. I’m so happy we’re actually documenting everything because it feels amazing to be here. And I also know that the only way we’re actually traveling the world is because we made it a definite goal to do so. As soon as we started planning for it we started seeing that the Universe was conspiring in our favor. You need to have faith for these things. But you also need a plan. A way to be able to have consistent cashflow during your travels. In gonna be talking about that a little more in a masterclass that I’ll filming this week. So stay on the lookout for that one!
Food & Shops
There’s lots of shops and restaurants surrounding the hotel. Yesterday we went to this African / Indian restaurant called ‘Farm City Dubai’. They had great food! We loved the African rice, the spicy chicken and also the meatpie. We also ordered some fried eggs and two sodas. We paid around $45 in total. Not cheap, but also definitely not expensive considering we’re in Dubai.
There was a barber shop around the corner called ‘Flip Barbershop’ were I went to get a quick haircut. They trimmed my hair and cut my beard. Very professional, lots of aftercare with alcohol and lotions. Also lined up everything nicely. We paid 100AED which is around $27. For head and beard that’s a reasonable price. I would’ve actually paid around $30 in the Netherlands.

So still lots to discover around here. We’re thinking of visiting Jumeirah Palm Beach in the next view days and today we’re just gonna be working a little bit in one of the amazing places you can sit down and relax inside of the hotel. Because it’s not just all play and vacation, we’re making money every day as well! Putting in the work, helping our clients, managing our community and editing content a little bit as well. If you want BIG results, you gotta put in some BIG energy as well.
So that’s it. The first blog on Wanderpreneur, a glimpse of Dubai and the first baby steps for us traveling the world as wanderpreneurs. Guess what we already know? This is ABSOLUTELY worth it.
Blessings and much love,
– Dennis
